What's next - six weeks to work out what's next for your career

Friendly and supportive small group course, with ground rules for confidentiality and constructive support.

If you’re considering making a change in your career, then this course is for you.

  • Perhaps you’re considering a complete change to a whole different career area.
  • Maybe you’re toying with the idea of reducing hours or going back to study.
  • Or maybe you’re debating whether to take the next step on the career path you’re already on.

Come and join us and use the time to think things through in a supportive environment.

Points of transition offer an opportunity to make thoughtful decisions for our future.

This course uses a spectrum of different approaches from occupational psychology to provide a range of exercises to deepen your career thinking.

In week 1 and 2 we focus on

  • Identifying your skills, interests, values and career drivers
  • Identifying assumptions, world-view generalisations or important learning experiences that impact your thinking

In weeks 3 and 4 we focus on

  • Understanding your career story
  • Identifying your career development stage and the role of community and influencers on your thinking
  • Handling uncertainty and unpredictable factors

In weeks 5 and 6 we focus on

  • Using the work so far to create and test a well-formed goal for ‘what next’
  • Assembling a plan of action towards your goal

How we work

Each session involves a range of content:

  • Informational delivery from me on key topics
  • Short individual exercises with the opportunity (but no obligation) to share
  • Work in pairs or smaller groups in breakout rooms
  • Group polls, exercises and discussions

In our first session we establish ground rules including group confidentiality. This gives a safe space where people can feel comfortable discussing and sharing ideas for the future. I hold a space for the group which is friendly, supportive and non-judgemental.

Lucy is great; excellent at explaining and listening and kept the course flowing. I liked the fact Lucy would be always open for suggestions of how to improve the course – she wanted all the people to get the most out of it and enjoy it.

Felt like a really safe space to share ideas. The practical exercises really helped me discover things about myself and work things out.

Amazing value for money! Has boosted my confidence – lots to think about – very practical – exceeded my expectations.

Lucy, you are so warm and informative and really know your stuff, and you are so happy and keen to pass on that knowledge. It has definitely made me think about my career transition in a clearer light.
