Career Guidance on Zoom
I work over Zoom as I found during lockdown that it had some major advantages over in-person work:
- It’s great to have a whiteboard and digital notes available that can be worked on collaboratively and easily emailed after the appointment
- It’s really helpful for clients to be able to share their screen or send files (especially when working on applications or job search)
- A lot of interviews take place over a video call and using this kind of software can build familiarity
- The appointment can be recorded for a client to rewatch later if that’s helpful (particularly helpful to review performance if we’re doing a mock interview).
- Clients can more flexibly reschedule as we’re not working around venue availability.
- Live transcription (auto captions) are available, which can be a useful aid for those with hearing impairment or English as a second language.
- It’s easier for many people to fit into their day as you don’t need to travel!
